Here you can see a deconstructed bath-house, a giant pumpkin by Yayoi Kusama, glass block steps in a recreation of a Shinto shrine as well as typical fishing village harbour scenes.
Explore on foot
In a day spent exploring the villages, hills and coastlines of this island I enjoyed a wealth of enjoyable experiences. Here is a rich landscape of daily activity, traditional and modern buildings, narrow village streets, nature paths with scenic outlooks, fishing port, outdoor art installations, folksy cafes.
Art Museums
There are two special underground art museums designed by world recognised Japanese architect Tadao Ando. One is devoted to the South Korean artist Lee Ufan, and the other contains spectacular works by Monet, James Turrell, and Walter De Maria.
Accommodation
A small range of accommodation is available on Naoshima, from the high-end, high priced Benesse House down to simple village B&B accommodation. Naoshima is also accessible easily from the port of Uno, and from the nearest City of Okayama where there is plenty of accommodation.
